About Teresa Lloyd and Grosse Pointe College Consulting
Teresa Lloyd, the founder of GPCC, was for twenty-seven years a college counselor at Grosse Pointe South High School, where she helped thousands of students and their parents go through the college selection and application processes. She has visited a multitude of college campuses all over the nation and knows how to advocate for students appropriately. She has assisted hundreds of parents in understanding their role as advisors to an older teenager who is making important life decisions.
Teresa is the proud parent of two young men who have had successful college experiences. As a parent, she understands the importance of finding a "good fit" for the student, one that is affordable and appropriate to the student's needs, interests, goals, and pocketbook. She also appreciates how valuable an outside counselor can be in helping families cope with this enormous decision.
Over the years, Teresa's clients have attended a wide range of colleges and universities, from some of the most competitive programs in the country to those that offer a unique opportunity to meet the special needs, talents and interests of the student. She is proud of the assistance that she has given to the many clients who have gone on to a successful and rewarding college experience.
Teresa was raised on the East Coast and moved to Michigan over twenty-eight years ago. She has a Bachelor of Arts from George Washington University, a Masters in Education from the University of North Carolina (Chapel Hill) in Guidance and Counseling and an Educational Specialist in Guidance and Counseling from George Washington University. Before coming to Michigan, she was a guidance counselor in the Washington, D. C. metropolitan area.
